I’ve never been to Washington, DC before so I spent some days visiting my friend, and touring the city. It’s a great city, made even more beautiful by the monuments and towering buildings. Obama’s helicopter even flew over us and landed at the White House. Here are some photos from the weekend:

Could you call it a parade? Maybe. In my long life of parade experience, this was probably the saddest I’d ever seen. In downtown LA, they threw a St. Patrick’s Day parade that included lots of cops and fire trucks. The audience was made up mainly of business people rushing to their lunch spots and thinking, “Hey, look. A parade.” and construction workers and the homeless.
But it gave me a good excuse to get outside on a beautiful day and snap a few photos.

This house at Beachwood Canyon in the Hollywood Hills is covered in little toys and wonderous miniatures.

Just returned from a week-long visit to Hawaii. I lived there for a couple of years, and it’s bittersweet to see it again. I miss it already. Hawaii is a place where the blues and greens take over the senses and the ocean water wears the skin down, just like it would a stone rolling in the waves for hundreds of years. Here are some photos from the trip:

Spent a beautiful weekend at home in the bay area. Lafayette, CA may be a place few will visit, but it’s breathtaking this time of year. Oranges, yellows cover the earth, but the sky stays a certain blue.
Here are a few more photos….
Fuji, our youngest, is part of the Los Angeles Times. Please vote for him.
I’ve often thought that I could easily live a happy life going from one festival to the next. And in Los Angeles, you could probably pull that off. But the fair of all fairs? The La County Fair.
On its very last day, we headed out to the LA County Fair. And what a fair it is. Sure, it’s is extremely expensive these days. And they have this fancy card you scan instead of little brightly colored tickets, which really just makes it harder to realize how much money you’re actually spending. But for such a fun-filled day of freedom… it’s worth it.
We spent the evening eating friend food (frog legs even!), visiting cows (not the best smelling beasts), riding the carnival rides, winning stuffed animals (well, some of us) and forcing people into awkward romantic poses for photos.
Taking photos is one of my favorite hobbies, so here we go….

Butterflies, fauna and flora–San Diego’s a beautiful place. More photos from the beach and Balboa Park:

And something a tad strange:

A woman at Balboa Park has confused her dogs with babies. Instead of walking them, she strolled her two pups around in a stroller, and then held them like infants. That’s love.
